This would depend primarily on anatomy and positioning. Adding weight to yourself without increasing your volume and keeping your form compact increase your density, which will cause you to be more likely to sink. I imagine that you are more dense than I am due to the fact that you have a higher muscle mass. However, my wings, hair, and clothes would saturate with water faster than your carapace, making me heavier and requiring more effort to swim. How much you have exhausted yourself is also an important factor, as you may not be able to exert the required force to push yourself above the water if you are too tired.
I would prefer it if you did not drown, intentionally or otherwise.

Kinda came in hot on this, and realized I should clarify. I'm being hyperbolic cause I feel weird. No actual intent to die or w/e. I just know I can joke about this around you, and you won't go 'omg don't saaaay that' or w/e.

I do not believe it is unusual for you to have pursued him, however indirectly for a time. If he is someone unable to see the value you have, then that is a flaw on his part. Additionally, if he really did bring species into the matter, then he has the flaw of being a big dumb idiot.

It means that he is unsuitable. If he truly made such a face at you, then I am inclined to believe him. You deserve someone that isn't so small-minded.
